THE LSCT 2005 CHRISTMAS PARTY – by Sharon Bowen

The 2005 Christmas Dinner Dance at Owl Creek was a blast! Everyone was having such a great time that the night was over before we knew it. We had 120 guests join us for dinner, dancing and good old southern hospitality. We had a few guest join us from out of town. We had one couple who joined us from Canada. Owl Creek did a wonderful job again serving us with excellent food. Everyone was raving about the shrimp cocktail and how good the food and drinks were this year.

We had many prizes to give away for our drawings thanks to our many sponsors and the generosity of our society. We appreciate our sponsors and their additional donations. Without these donations we would not be able to give away the many gifts or keep our cost down per person. Every woman attending was given a special gift. We also gave away the angel table top decorations this year. We gave away another 45 gifts during the raffle. Everyone went away with something.

The high light of the evening was Janice Hausberger and Steve Marcus dancing provocatively across the dance floor to accept her gift; as they danced, the music set the mood. Janice you are awesome! You always know how to have fun, and you certainly made us laugh.

Also we will never forget Linda Cox accepting her gift to the theme music of Rocky. Linda was recovering from knee surgery at the time and she was having a “rocky moment.” We all laughed with her.

Carol and Andy Traister danced the night away with their great dancing skills. If only we could all dance like them. I wouldn’t be surprise if we don’t see Andy on “Dancing with the Stars” one day. Some of us were given dance lessons from one our DJ’s. And then there were some who preferred to hang out at the bar with Doug.

A special thanks to John Ballard for making sure that the White Castles were delivered on time this year. It was unbelievable;we had $50.00 worth of White Castles and they all disappeared within minutes after arriving. For all of you who leave before midnight you missed out on one of our oldest Louisville traditions – the WC “sliders”.

I would like to thank Linda Cox for helping me out at the door, John and Judy Ballard for helping decorate the tables and working with me to coordinate the party at Owl Creek. I would also like to thank David Boone for assisting me with the raffle give away and tolerating me with the microphone.

I would also like to thank the following sponsors again for their contributions; their support was a holiday gift to us all.
