Dear Friends of the Louisville Society for Coatings Technology;

Well, we could probably designate that chorus as the theme song for the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology and for its’ local Society here in Louisville, Kentucky as well. I’ll explain why.

First of all, we are changing the timeframe and the venue for our annual Spring Symposium. Historically, it has been held in April. Last year it was in May. This year, however, we are holding it in June. Our decision to hold it in June instead of April was not an arbitrary decision. Local Society leadership decided to take advantage of Louisville’s most famous landmark (Churchill Downs) and its’ most famous sport (horse racing – not basketball). In other words, we will be holding our Annual LSCT Symposium at Churchill Downs during the spring meet. As a result, attendees will be able to relax and watch a couple of hours of horse racing after all of the presentations have concluded.

Secondly, the topics covered during the Symposium have been lined up based upon a recent survey sent out to our membership. We felt that the topics should reflect the needs of our members.

Last of all, merger, merger, merger! We hear about paint companies merging on a regular basis. Some of us have experienced those mergers. Now, it looks like we are ALL going to experience the merging of the FSCT and the NPCA. A vote of all members pertaining to that union will be facilitated sometime in April. But we have been told that each local group will continue to function as always, unless they choose to also merge. More on that at a later date.
