Hello fellow LSCT Members!
I'd like to welcome you all to another season of the LSCT. We hope to make this another exciting year full of fun, information, and most of all, change!
After a successful year under our Past President Linda Cox, we have completed the rollover of the new officers of the LSCT. This year's officers are:
David Boone (Lanxess Corp.), President
Steve Joest (Cardolite), Vice President
Wes Huff (Southern Clay Products), Treasurer
David Wise (Wise Technical), Secretary
We would also like to welcome our new Membership Chair, Ned Towler of Reichhold Chemical.
And although we are the officers representing the LSCT, I would like to remind you all that this is all of our organization and we invite any (or all!) of you to join us in these roles as well as others within the LSCT. This can be in such ways as assisting in the planning of the technical symposium to take place in Spring '09, helping to increase our exposure to the city of Louisville in the forms of education and community support, or finding speakers for our monthly meetings. We welcome any ideas and assistance in these and all functions of the LSCT.
Speaking of the symposium and important dates, starting in October we will return to our monthly meeting format with fine food and insightful speakers. In December we will have our annual Christmas party at Owl Creek. We will also have our Past President's meeting in the first part of the year. Please check the LSCT website (www.lsct.org) for future dates and events.
As you visit our website, please take the time to visit the websites of our gracious advertisers who support us time and again. Let's give them all a huge Thank You! If anyone else in interested in advertising opportunities on our website, please contact Linda Cox.
In the spirit of change and growth of not only this organization but the coatings organizations within Louisville, we are working with our colleagues in the LPCA to merge both organizations into one coatings association. This has been successful in some of our sister cities (as well as on a national level) and we believe it will be equally successful here. The first step in this merger is that all monthly meetings will now be joint meetings between the LSCT and the LPCA. Further information will be shared as this future organization is developed to begin in the Fall of '09. Until then, nothing has changed in terms of the dues structure or membership. If you have any questions or comments on this, please do not hesitate to send them to the attention of any of the current officers.
Finally, mark your calendars for the LPCA's fall golf outing taking place at Standard Country Club this upcoming Monday! It should be a great time of networking and fun! Spots are still available. We'd love to see you there!
Thank you again for your support. I look forward to meeting you all personally in the near future.
Sincerely,
David Boone, Lanxess Corp.
President, LSCT
